Travel Trends

The travel industry is changing and evolving every day. From the way we book trips to how we communicate and connect with others, there are many new and exciting things happening in the industry. With so many different trends impacting travelers, it is important to stay on top of what’s going on in the world of tourism and travel in order to ensure your company stays ahead of the game.

WGY Travel is on top of all the trends.

The latest travel trends are all about technology and customer experience. From voice recognition technology to contactless payments, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and facial recognition, there are a lot of ways that tourism is becoming more technologically advanced.

Bleisure travel – or traveling without a computer or phone – took the world by storm in 2022 and experts expect this trend to continue into 2023. It’s a great way to step away from the digital world for a little while and unplug from all of the distractions. It could be a trip to a wellness retreat or a staycation at home, where you turn off your phone and relax.

Music travel – travelling to see grassroots musical scenes and cultures – is another growing trend that’s set to keep growing. Whether it’s Colombia or Mexico, where folk music has become more popular than ever, or France, which is home to hundreds of genres of music, musicians are finding new ways to explore and experience new cultures and traditions.

Set-jetting – travelling to locations featured on your favorite television shows or movies – is also a big travel trend that’s expected to grow in 2023. Expedia reports that 66% of travelers have considered visiting a location after seeing it in a show or movie, and 39% have actually booked a trip to the destination.

In a post-pandemic world, people are becoming more conscious about their health and well-being. That means they are more aware of the negative effects of COVID and they are more willing to go out of their way to make sure that they’re safe when they travel.

Taking longer, more meaningful trips is another travel trend that’s expected to increase in 2023. As more countries begin to open up their borders and the freedom to travel is finally restored, more and more people are choosing to take that long-haul flight or climb to the top of a mountain.

Travellers are focusing on experiences over material things in 2023, as they become more aware of the environmental impact of their trips and want to support local economies and communities. This is especially true for millennials who have a strong desire to travel and are looking for more authentic experiences in destinations they may not have seen before.

Hidden gems – exploring alternative destinations and under-the-radar spots that are a cut above the rest – is also a popular travel trend that will continue in 2023. From hiking volcanoes in the Azores to sampling Lyon’s famous cuisine, this trend is all about finding those places that aren’t on everyone’s radar but that travelers would love to visit.
