Known as “The Island of the Gods,” Bali is a dream destination for many. Backpackers and luxury travelers come for its white sand beaches, iconic rice terraces, jungle-covered volcanoes, and heartwarming culture.
Surfers and nature lovers alike will enjoy the beaches, waterfalls, and coral while culture vultures will be enthralled by a range of temples and performances. From sacred springs and cliff top temples to kecak dance performances and awe inspiring sunsets. The list of things to do in Bali is endless.
The best time to visit Bali is from April through October as this is the dry season. However, this is also peak tourist season so expect to pay more for accommodations and tour prices. If you want to save money on hotel rates, visit before or after peak season in May-June and September-October.
Be sure to bring comfortable walking shoes and a sun hat as the weather can be hot and humid. You’ll also want to have some cash for the many temples as they will not accept credit cards. It’s also a good idea to wear loose, long pants and shoulder covered shirts while visiting temples. You’ll also want to bring a shawl or scarf as some temples require it. Try Balinese coffee and be sure to get a bite of Babi Guling, suckling pig that’s fried in a combination of crispy pork skin, pork blood sausage, and shredded fried pork meat. Delicious!
